This photo shows a train in the former E.F. Cantagallo, a metric gauge Fell section of rack railroad in the hilly country of the Rio de Janeiro state.The central rail was used for traction and braking; the maximum gradient was 1 in 12.5 and trains were limited to two coaches. This locomotive probably was the most modern Fell locomotive to be built - a North British 0-6-0 of 1946. This line was closed in 1965.
