This is one of the most popular locomotives of the E.F. Santos a Jundiaí. It is one of the 70 ton, 600 HP Bessemer-Cooper switching locomotives, built by General Electric in the U.S.A. and delivered to the E.F. Santos a Jundiaí between 1955 and 1956. The nickname of this kind of locomotive is Lambreta (scooter), due to its agility, the roar of its motor and its original color, red with yellow stripes, as seen in this photo. Other version says that its nickname is due to this locomotive only require one engineer to be run. Many units of this kind still are operating, some with the livery of the new privatized company, M.R.S. Logística, which now owns the former lines of E.F. Santos a Jundiaí. This photo, was shot by Elizeu Pires, probably during the early seventies, as this machine still shows rectangular headligths. It was originally published at the Ferrovia magazine; this copy is courtesy of Marcello Tálamo.
