One of the most wonderful Brazilian railroad photos I ever seen: a hawk is fed "on the fly" by the cook of a restaurant car of a NOB passenger train in full speed. The legend of the photo says, "The Visiting Hawk. The train crosses approximately 460 kilometers of Pantanal (the Brazilian swamplands) between Campo Grande and Corumbá, in a landscape full of nature and with several species of birds. An amazing moment is already a routine during the trip: the cook, with one of his hands outside the restaurant car, feed the hawk with meat. The passengers watch with attention this sequence of rare beauty". By the way, hawks were good customers of Brazilian railroad restaurant cars: one of them used to have lunch in the train between Uberaba and Araguari, at the former Companhia Mogiana... This photo, shot by Armando França, was originally published in an article about Brazilian railroads at the Ele e Ela magazine in 1994. This copy is courtesy of Kenzo Sasaoka, from Campinas SP.
