A freight train going to the Santos harbour, headed by a steam locomotive, crossing the city of São Vicente, where I live. This is the first city of Brazil, being founded in 1530. The photographer certainly take this photo from the top of the Voturuá hill, near the place where there is nowadays a Carrefour supermarket. Unfortunately the date when this photo was shot is unknown; certainly it was during the early fifties, as can be deduced by the big buildings still being constructed at the background. The Calungas (as people born in São Vicente are known) certainly can recognize the famous Gáudio building already present in this photo... The famous suspension-bridge between the island and the continent unfortunately can not be properly seen. The copy of this photo is courtesy of Marcello Talamo, from São Paulo SP.
