Vera Cruz station in 1997. I used to travel between São Paulo and Vera Cruz during the sixties and the early seventies, enjoying the still decent passenger trains of Companhia Paulista, then under government administration. The arrival of each train was a magnificent spetacle... However, in 1997, passenger service was almost supressed. Trains still kept stopping at Vera Cruz, but the station was already closed and abandoned by FEPASA. Nothing lasts forever...
