Viação Férrea Federal do Leste Brasileiro
This railroad served the eastern region of Brazil, namely the states of Bahia, Sergipe, the northern of Minas Gerais and the south
of Pernambuco and Piauí. It was
- and still is - a key component in the Brazilian rail network, as it linked the southeast and eastern systems of the country. In
1957 it was merged in the
R.F.F.S.A., the Brazilian Federal Railroad Network. After the privatization of this network, in 1997, it
belongs to the F.C.A.. - Ferrovia Centro Atlântico, a company
that ammalgamated other lines from the former E.F. Central do Brasil, Rede
Mineira de Viação and E.F. Leopoldina.
